Abstract
Along with rapid urbanization in China, the criteria system for public facilities is obviously out of date and does not adapt to the development of large-scale residential area. According to the questionnaire in five residential areas, the paper analyzes shopping frequency, trip distance, causes of selecting different commercial facilities and residents´ evaluation of convenience. Comparing with the distribution of existing commercial facilities around these residential areas, the paper comments on the living Sphere of inhabitants objectively. With results of the survey, authors propose that different types of commercial facilities, such as [neighborhood-based in one residential quarter], [public-based between different residential districts] and [center-based in one city] should be arranged in a city rationally.
