Abstract
The boundary-element method is applied to static field problems under fairly general conditions. The authors show the applicability of the method to open geometries containing floating electrodes. Although only 2D problems in an anisotropic environment have been analysed, one can show that 3D field problems in anisotropic dielectrics can also be tackled analogously.
