Abstract
One of the goals of the ANGEL1 project is to specify and design the end-to-end infrastructure for a distributed system capable of delivering health related services to consumers. The ability to monitor environmental and body parameters - and if applicable to control actuators and thus close the loop - using intelligent, wireless sensor and actuator nodes is a prerequisite for the development of these services. Inevitably the complexity of the system will increase. Based on usage scenarios, developed in the project, the system requirements have been defined. The Angel platform -the common foundation for the applications that implement specific services- is based on these requirements. The paper will describe the main functional and non-functional system requirements, and the Angel platform architecture.
