Abstract
In the design of ultrasonic transducers for medical and non-destructive applications, the active area of the transducer is an important factor for performance. In this paper, the optimum active area and the thickness dependence of P(VDF-TrFE) piezo-copolymer films for unturned ultrasonic transducers are discussed in terms of the transducer loss (TL), obtained from the modified Mason´s equivalent circuit. The experimental results of TL agree with the simulations for two unturned P(VDF-TrFE) ultrasonic transducers, with 41 and 83 μm thick piezo-polymer films, respectively
