Abstract
A new time-based asynchronous edge detection algorithm is here presented. The proposed technique allows to extend the dynamic range of the sensor at more than 100 dB. The algorithm, which is intended to be implemented at the pixel level of a vision sensor, has been simulated using a 0.35 mum CMOS technology by means mixed signal circuits placed behind the photosensitive area. The pixel consists of 45 transistors and will be supplied by two different voltage values: 1.2 V, for the digital circuits, and 3.3 V for the analog output, in order to optimize power consumption and maximize output range.
