Abstract :
Although the feasibility of broadband microstrip strip-element phased arrays has been known for nearly two decades, a systematic broadband design procedure has not appeared. We present: (i) a CAD procedure (for 3-D scan), of a microstrip strip-element with unbalanced feed (single probe per unit cell), without mode suppresser pins, in which the scan-volume and frequency are integral design parameters, (ii) numerical results of scan-frequency performance, and (iii) design curves.
