Abstract :
A new single-sample failure model for a CNC system, whose operation has been followed up by the authors for a period of over two years, is proposed in this paper. A reliability database has been created to collect all the failure data, from which the main source of failures can be identified. The Bayesian method is used for the reliability evaluation and the weighted least squares method is used for determining the parameters of the reliability function. Real failure data from the tested special CNC system have been used to illustrate the new approach.
