Abstract :
The physicochemical properties of Guanting sediment and treated sediments were characterized. The sorption behavior of a typical polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon-phenanthrene(PHE) to them and the parameter changement with contact time were investigated, and the effects of CaCl2 concentration were studied simultaneously. The experiments show that the organic matter existing in natural sorbents, non soluble and cannot be extracted by the traditional alcali dissolving and acid sedimentation is the crucial factor with regard to the binding of PHE, especially for long time adsorption. The influence of Ca2+ differs in different sorption time. The effect is slighter at the beginning of sorption, but changes larger with increasing the sorption time.
