Abstract
A number of commercial mobile satellite services are either operational or are in various stages of testing and deployment. It is assumed that there will be ample two-way, highly reliable, commercial digital communications between aircraft avionics and cockpit computers and terrestrially based computers and their networks. One of several experiments or demonstrations that examine the potential of this emerging technology is discussed. Emphasis is placed on using commercially available computer and communications services, resources, and products
