  • Abstract
To exploit the advantage of directional antennas and increase the transmission throughput, this paper proposes an Adaptive Directional communication MAC protocol (ADMAC). By varying the transmission strategy according to the usage of the channel, nodes can send RTS and CTS packets omni-directionally or directionally. Before a transmitter starts to send packets, it checks whether the outgoing transmission will interfere with the ongoing transmissions. The simulation results show that ADMAC protocol makes more pairs of nodes transmit and receive data simultaneously without interferences.
