Abstract :
The European GSM and the American AMPS-D systems are compared with respect to spectrum efficiency measured in Erlangs per cell and per megahertz and with respect to received speech quality. It is clearly shown that GSM exhibits better performance in both spectrum efficiency and received speech quality
