Abstract :
There are many stochastic factors which affect the balancing efficiency of mixed-model assembly lines and are difficult to be accurately described and solved by mathematical model. Firstly, these stochastic factors in manufacturing systems are analyzed. Secondly, the Arena simulation model for stochastic mixed-model assembly line is built, and the effects of stochastic factors on the mixed-model assembly line balancing problem are studied by simulation tool in the virtual assembly environment. Finally, the balancing results of the deterministic model are improved to identify the validity of the simulation model. The study provides a practicable method to solve the stochastic mixed-model assembly line balancing problem.
