Abstract :
In this two-part paper, we present the statistical performance analysis of a general cross-layer automatic repeat request (ARQ) cooperative diversity (ACD) system by focusing on the scenario in which decode-and-forward relaying protocol and multiple two-hop relays are employed, and the channel environment is described by Rayleigh fading. Part I describes the system strategy and the symbol error rate (SER) analysis, while Part II focuses on the end-to-end performance analysis. In addition, an optimal power allocation scheme under a tight power constraint for the ACD system is proposed for further enhancing the SER performance, which outperforms the equal power allocation scheme obviously.
