  • Abstract
In the call setup implementation of a cellular system, there are two design choices for the immediate assignment procedure: (1) assign a traffic channel and (2) assign a stand-alone dedicated control channel. A simulation was run to analyze which option would give a better system performance in terms of number of attempts blocked and channel utilization. The results of the simulation demonstrated that it is a tradeoff between the performance of the call setup time and the channel capacity in each cell
