Abstract
Ultra wideband impulse radio (UWB-IR) is a highly promising physical layer technology for wireless sensor network (WSN) due to its unique characteristics such as low power transmission, low cost and low complexity transceiver circuitry. In this paper, a novel method for high data rate transmissions in ultra wideband (UWB) communications is proposed. It employs a combination of pulse polarity modulation and pulses shape modulation for the simultaneous transmission of multiple bits. Two orthogonal pulses based on wavelet are presented, their spectrum meet The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) spectral rules. High achievable data rate for UWB systems means that sensors can transfer their payload data quickly and spend much of the rest of the time "asleep" or in a low-power state.
