Abstract
This paper continues the authors´ earlier work on the development of a statistical technique for identifying coherent structures based on wavelet transforms. In our earlier work, we proved that our test has the correct size. In this paper, we examine both probabilities of detection and false alarm in the special case of signal plus noise. This analysis demonstrates that the coherent structure detector performs well when compared with standard approaches
