Abstract :
The conductor loss of the waveguide with rough surface is discussed in this paper. The surface morphology is characterized by roughness root-mean-square (rms), and the effect of roughness on the propagation properties equivalent to the conductivity of the conductor. Results for attenuation constant of S-band and Ku-band rectangular waveguide using the rapid estimation show that this method avoids the complex modeling process and greatly reduces the time to calculate the conductor losses when compared to numerical methods, thus it is more convenient for the engineering applications.
