Abstract :
This paper discusses the design and implementation of a digital data acquisition (DAQ) system-on-chip (SoC) with wireless telemetry for Micro-electromechanical (MEMS) foot plantar pressure sensors. The chip is intended for an in-shoe wireless pressure measurement system to analyze pressure distribution during normal daily life activities. The project targets wireless communication transmitter operating in the 2.45GHz industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band. The designed chip has low power consumption, less than 20mW in active mode when communication at 1.25Mbit/s, and using 1mm of chip area when implemented in 0.35-μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology. The chip is developed to interface MEMS pressure sensors that has been designed, fabricated and tested.
