Abstract :
The application of artificial neural networks to hand-off algorithms in microcellular radio systems is discussed. It is shown that the neural network approach allows hands-offs for a large number of mobile subscribers to be handled in reduced time spans. Practical application and simulation results of the proposed formulation are discussed, and it is shown that the neural network methodology allows the implementation of suitable multicriteria hand-off algorithms that were infeasible with other approaches
