Abstract :
In this paper, a linear microstrip array antenna design with End-fire characteristic has been presented for ultra wideband wireless communication. Our goal is to radiate the maximum energy in one desired direction without any secondary lobes in another regions, and to have a very wideband frequency operation that meets different implementation. The proposed array antenna consists of a two square radiating patch, and a partial ground plane etched onto a FR4 printed circuit board with an overall size of (42.5× 30 × 1.5 )mm3 and dielectric constant εr = 4.4. The microstrip feedline technique is used to feed the array antenna with 50 Ω impedance. Conception and simulated results show that the array antenna has a bandwidth of 4 GHz and a maximum radiation pattern in desired direction (End-fire) without any side lobes. Simulated results are presented to validate the usefulness of the proposed array antenna structure for ultra-wideband wireless communication like WiMAX and WLAN applications. Ansoft´s High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and Computer Simulation Tool (CST) softwares are used to calculate and compare the various parameters mentioned after.
