Abstract :
We investigate transmission characteristics in planar multiple-ring metamaterials theoretically and discuss the interaction mechanism between the rings. The microwave multiple-ring metamaterials are used to study electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and the Fano-type response to incident electromagnetic waves. The dark mode resonant feature results from the excitation of an antisymmetric current mode oscillating in different rings and the quality factor is weakly dependent on angles of incidence and incident polarization states.
