Abstract :
In this paper, a novel composite right/left handed transmission line (CRLH TL) is proposed based on Wunderlich-shaped dentiform capacitor (WDC) and meandered-line short-circuited stub inductor (MSSI). It can be considered a complete alternative to its conventional counterpart formed by interdigital capacitor (IDC) and short-circuited stub inductor (SSI). The circuit parameters extraction and constitutive electromagnetic (EM) parameters retrieval are performed based on simulated full-wave S-parameters. These results provide a deep insight and a convincing demonstration regarding the fundamental aspects of left handed (LH) characteristic. The CRLH cell features compact due to its larger LH capacitor with respect to its previous counterpart, thus suggests potential applications in novel devices and antennas design with miniaturization requirement. The major contribution of this paper is the demonstration of the possibility of fractal geometry in the design of CRLH TL.
