  • Abstract
A dedicated frequency-hopping noncoherent binary frequency shift keying (BFSK) spread-spectrum multiple-access communication system is proposed for portable mobile communication application. Address design useful for 4096 subscribers with minimum cochannel interference has been carried out with an extended prime number algorithm. The frequency-hopped (FH) spread-spectrum signal with BFSK is generated with the help of a numerically controlled synthesizer in the transmitter. The receiver consists of another synthesizer with a preassigned FH code that can be acquired and tracked by serial search technique when the transmitted signal is receiver. The system occupies a conventional transponder bandwidth of 36 MHz. On computer simulation it is observed that performance of the system is better than Pe=10 -3 for 256 simultaneously active subscribers
