Abstract :
A framework for modeling of cellular mobile (and other) radio channels has been developed as follows. Different spaces such as user space, topographic space, time space, mobile space, signal space, and propagation space, all relevant to the mobile environment, are outlined first. The corresponding fields, such as trajectories which describe dynamics of signal (amplitude and phase), vehicle movement (delay, attenuation, phase shift, . . .), etc. evolving in time in a deterministic and/or random way, are addressed. This description enables the modeling of various mobile radio channels and performance analysis of various signal forms including analog (amplitude, phase, or frequency modulated), digital (amplitude/phase modulated, coded, interleaved, and/or spread spectrum modulated), and hybrid signals using frequency-, time- and/or code-division multiple access to be performed. Algorithms and a channel model are proposed in forms convenient for software and/or hardware design of cellular mobile channel simulators and measurement equipment necessary for the development and evaluation of mobile and base radio transceivers and system design
