Abstract :
A novel inverted E-shape with slots antenna for the ultra-wideband (UWB) communication is presented and studied in this paper. The radiation is only printed on an one face of inexpensive FR_4 substrate with the thickness of 1.6 mm, and it is easy to integrate with other systems. The two arms of the inverted E-shape can efficiently extend the current distribution of the proposed antenna, the dimension of the antenna is significantly reduced and more resonant frequencies in the required frequency range are obtained. In order to extend the bandwidth of the antenna further, two symmetrical bevelings in the middle of the ground and two rectangles on the sides of the ground are added. By using the technology of miniaturization and extending bandwidth, the proposed antenna has compact size of 36 mm × 36 mm which includes the ground plane. Moreover, the prototype of the antenna is constructed and tested, shown good agreement with simulated results, the measured VSWR of the proposed antenna is less than 2 in the band 3.25-10.7 GHz, which covers UWB band, and good radiation patterns and antenna gains have also been obtained.
