Title :
A systematic approach to software safety
Author_Institution :
Fed. Aviation Adm., Washington, DC, USA
Abstract :
The paper briefly presents a modified software quality framework that could be employed to address critical software specifications, primarily of safety, within the context of total quality and with differing interests of stakeholders in mind. The modified framework is derived from the McCall software quality factors framework to accommodate safety. The paper mentions that work is in progress to address reliability, safety, and security concurrently and to include maintainability in due course. The software quality framework (McCall or modified) covers software product attributes and does not cover software process attributes
