Abstract
A generalized mathematical procedure is developed for investigation wideband transient pulse responses of monopole antennas illuminated by an external electromagnetic pulse. The numerical algorithm is based on the time-domain integral equation solved with the method of moments. The Laguerre polynomials are implanted as the entire domain temporal basis function to expand the unknown current in the time domain. Numerical simulation are performed to capture the responses of the monopole antenna, and compared with the measured results to validate the method. The transient response characteristics of the antenna illuminated by different incident EMPs are shown and compared in detail.
