Abstract :
A compact low-power phase-locked loop (PLL) frequency synthesizer module which performs automatic frequency stabilization and intermittent operation is described. Two LSIs were developed to reduce both current drain and module size. One is a prescalar (3 mA at 1 GHz) using a high-performance bipolar process (SST), and the other is a PLL-AFC LSI using 1.2-μm mixed-signal CMOS. A total current drain of 15 mA and an overall size of 1.5 cm3 were achieved
