            Abstract :
Currently data communications use is relatively low. However, in some areas the growth is increasing rapidly. This has mostly taken place in business areas, where need of flexibility, connectivity and saving time is required. This paper presents as overview of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) data evolution towards UMTS/IMT2000 (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System/International Mobile Telecommunications-2000)
