Abstract :
Remote sounding of precipitations is of great interest to study processes in atmosphere. At that double-frequency sounding is widely used [1] which based on calculation of differential radar cross section (DRCS). But the most of published works are performed in the assumption of spherical drops, while the shape of real particles essentially differs. This greatly affects on scattering characteristics and that is why the study of ellipsoidal drops is of considerable interest. But scattering of electronmagnetics waves from nonsperical drops is quite difficult and requires large computational resources. Therefore we used the approximation of dipole scattering to solve the problem of double-frequency sounding in the framework of the Pruppacher model. So the goal of the present paper is the study of electromagnetic scattering on ellispoidal drops in the case of double-frequency sounding of polidisperse medium (medium of different size drops).
