Abstract :
High-power, low-coherent light sources are desired in optical sensing, photo-printing, fiber gyroscope, and so on, in order to avoid the effects of optical interference in the systems. For such purposes, a superluminescent diode (SLD) is most suitable device, however, the beam divergence is much larger than laser diodes resluting in the difficulty of applications to practical uses. To overcome such a problem, we have developed a compact collimated SLD using micro Fresnel lens. Construction of the micro-collimated SLD (MCSLD) is shown.
