Abstract
We present a slotted ALOHA based Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol for multi-channel Cognitive Radio (CR) networks. We analyze its throughput and verify the superiority of Idle Channel Selection based CR MAC (ICS-MAC) over Random Channel Selection based CR MAC (RCS-MAC) as well as pure slotted-ALOHA and pure ALOHA based CR MACs with parameterized aspects. The throughput improvement of the proposed CR system due to packet capture effect in Rayleigh fading is also analyzed.
