Abstract :
A new frequency selective field strength sensor (150 kHz-1 GHz) is described with high dynamic range, measuring all Poynting vector quantities (E, H, phase). Our chosen principle includes a synthesizer and a triple superhet conversion down to 0-150 Hz. The instrument uses transmission line sensor heads and special baluns with superb common mode rejection. Sensitivity data is shown, demonstrating the sensor´s application potential between several 100 V/m and about several 10 dBμV/m. For the first time a sensor is now known for EMI emission as well as immunity measurements in one small instrument, The bandwidth can be switched from 120 kHz to 10 kHz. The prototype sensor is controlled by a RS232 fiber optic link and a power supply, which comprises a compressed air generator turbine or an appropriate battery
