Abstract :
In this research, the authors examined the value of air temperature data of big cities as data-mining introduction teaching material for schoolchildren and young students. The data examined in this research was the air temperature data of all of the 47 prefectural capitals in Japan. The results of the research showed that we can clearly see statistical patterns in the data using diagrams and graphs familiar to average people. It was also found that we can experience, through the analysis of air temperature data, that finding patterns in data leads us to additional findings. Moreover, we found that we can expect students to acquire important ideas of statistics through the analysis.
