Abstract
Through the rise of evidence-base medicine, and the enormous challenges it poses, artificial intelligence in medicine (AIM) and medical informatics have a new and important role to play. It may well be that in 25 years time, the question will be not “What has AIM ever achieved?”, but rather “How could we have ever got here without it?”
