Abstract :
Dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) systems have been proposed for operation at locations across the United States in the 5850 to 5925 MHz band. Various high-power search and weather radars operate at or near this frequency band and are a source of potential interference. The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences has performed a series of interference tests to determine the electromagnetic compatibility of DSRC systems used for automatic toll collection and high-power 5-GHz radars. A summary of the EMC testing methods and results are presented. The results show the isolation required for compatible operation in terms of power and distance (from the interfering radar to the DSRC system) for typical radar pulse characteristics and antenna configurations
