Abstract :
The authors describe the various low earth orbiting (LEO) systems, their strengths and DoD applicability. They also describe the concept of Global Grid and show how the future global mobile communications networks will enhance the connectivity and responsiveness of the DOD communications. The concept of a digital connection to anywhere at anytime is perfectly adaptable to the needs of a mobile military force. It is shown how the concepts of LEO satellite constellations are applicable to the global communications issues of today and tomorrow. Indeed, this concept will support the military needs of communications on the move
