Abstract :
We propose a method that aids in the calculation of strain in blood vessels. The calculation of strain is used in the medical community to relate heart disease with factors such as diabetes and blood vessel calcification. Traditional methods of calculating the strain involve photography, film development, large-scale photograph development, and digitization using a flatbed tablet. These processes are labor intensive and time consuming, in the order of days. We use image analysis and processing techniques to provide a solution in calculating strain efficiently and consistently. To ensure portability, a JAVA-based application is developed which is designed for a semi-automatic operation in calculating a strain value
