Abstract :
This paper examines the performance of a method for carrier frequency offset estimation. Although the method is derived from a maximum likelihood framework, its performance no longer achieves the Cramer-Rao bound when multiple OFDM blocks are in use. The phenomenon is verified using statistical estimation theory. An improved method is also proposed.
