Abstract :
The effect of dissolved electronegative gases (SF6, C 8F16O, C8F18 and C2 Cl3F3) on the dielectric strength of transformer mineral oil is investigated. The conduction current-stress characteristics are studied in this experimental work. The results show that the dissolved electronegative gases exhibit a reduction in the conduction current level. The perfluorocarbon dissolved gases show a relatively lower current level than that of SF6 and SF6 /N2 mixture. The C8F16O/N2 mixture exhibits a reduction in the conduction current level
