Abstract :
To distribute a parallel process to several computer boxes through a computational Grid, there are three fundamental problems. They may be running on different platforms, for example, WinXP, Linux, etc. The process itself can be written in different programming languages, such as Fortran 90 (an older version was Fortran 77), Ansi C, C++, and Java 2 (very common in Internet application). The last but not the least, if we distribute the lower level component of the process, for example, in machine codes it is not guaranteed that they will work on different CPU architectures such as 32bit CPU and 64 bit CPU. We, here, propose a simple parallel processing system that can be cross-platforms (different operating systems), cross-languages/compilers (C++, Java, etc), and cross-machines (32 bit and 64 bit CPUs, etc) by using a database as an interface of sharing and transferring information. A separate database´s table is created to synchronize the operations between the two computers. The parallel processing system was successfully tested by running a plasma simulation in two WinXP computers.
