Abstract :
There has been growing interest in increasing the data rate transmissions over VHF and UHF 25 kHz channels. Harris Tactical Radio Engineering Group has developed a waveform to transmit 64 kbps data rate over current radio channels. This rate is sufficient to support low bit rate video. Two proof-of-concept systems will be delivered to the US Army. Harris has defined the waveform characteristics, developed the waveform approach, and modeled the projected performance. Harris has implemented the waveform software, and integrated it into a manpack radio that is capable of transmitting 64 kbps data in a 25 kHz channel. This paper describes the approach taken in developing this waveform
