Abstract :
Communication technology has advanced significantly over the last decade enabling people to communicate anytime from anywhere using a multiplicity of devices. However, the power of this advancement in communication technology has hardly been leveraged in healthcare industry. This paper describes a solution that not only leverages the advancement in communication technology to streamline the process of connecting patients, doctors and other stakeholders in healthcare service, but also makes it economically attractive for healthcare providers to provide next-generation healthcare services to their customers in an efficient manner. Specifically, the proposed solution in this paper enables communication service providers (CSPs) to work collaboratively with health care providers (HCPs) to offer novel healthcare services leveraging their existing network infrastructure. This solution enables communication service providers to generate new revenue without additional capital expenditure, and in addition, also enables health care providers to generate additional revenue via novel healthcare service offerings to their customers without incurring any capital expenditure either. Thus, this model of offering healthcare services provides a win-win value proposition to both communication service providers as well as health care providers.
