Abstract :
We have investigated cavities filled with liquid which may be considered as defects of capacitor models made of impregnated polypropylene films and have studied the electrical discharges occurring in them. Discharge characteristics have been measured for an applied voltage slightly higher than the inception voltage, with a digital detector having a 0.05 pC sensitivity and a temporal resolution of 300 ns. We have examined the influence of the nature of the cavity wall and have compared them with those of discharges in a capacitor model in absence of cavity
