Abstract :
A two-element multi-band microstrip antenna for a handset that can be used in MIMO applications is proposed and studied. The antenna patches have been designed based on Koch pre-fractal edges and U-slots. The antenna has been fabricated and the S parameters and radiation patterns measured. The antenna covers the GSM1800, UMTS and HiperLAN2 bands. A remarkable miniaturization has been archived with patch dimensions of 0.17λ for the lower band. The mutual coupling between elements is low enough for MIMO applications in all bands.
