Abstract
Many challenging issues and problems exist in the management of distributed applications and systems in distributed computing environments. The broad goals of the MANDAS (Management of Distributed Applications and Systems) project are to identify and solve problems arising in the development of a management framework and architecture, in the design, modeling and management of distributed applications, and in the definition of a set of services required to support new tools and techniques. The MANDAS research team involves researchers from multiple universities in both Canada and the United States. This paper provides an overview of the research issues being addressed in the research project and gives some insight into results to date
