Abstract
Timing jitter accumulated by cascading wavelength converters is investigated. A trade-off between minimum jitter and a high extinction ratio is identified. We predict that 20 converters cascaded at 10 Gbit/s yields <20 ps of jitter and an extinction ratio >9.6 dB.
