  • Abstract
    The authors report on work in progress concerning online measurement of partial discharges (PDs) in the stator winding of large synchronous hydro-generators. To date, some 20 synchronous hydro-generators have been equipped with permanent couplers, and a program of online PD measurements is being carried out. The procedure followed in performing the measurement and the data acquisition system currently used are described. The basic criteria applied in processing the data acquired and presenting the measurement results are considered, and an example application is briefly discussed
