Abstract :
In the classical partial discharge (PD) measuring circuit the current represents the signal that allows the detection of PDs in the tested sample. This current is converted into a voltage by the measuring impedance, amplified, and filtered. The integration process is essential. A standard calibrator for testing integration capabilities of PD measuring instruments is presented. The calibrator is described in terms of the hardware design and software tools. The conditions for defining and qualifying instrumentation under test are analyzed by studying the standard calibrator performance. The system allows an in-depth study of PD measuring instruments and circuits, overcoming the limits presented by classical calibrators
