Abstract
We present a highly distributed management architecture dedicated to IP multicast services. This architecture relies on a three level hierarchical model over which both management data and functions are distributed. We show how the architecture can be used to support an extended multicast accounting algorithm which adapts itself to the dynamics of a multicast tree and detail the implementation of the proposed framework using active network technology.
